polyacrylonitrile pyrolysis product - Introduction
Pyrolysis of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) is a product obtained by heating and decomposing polyacrylonitrile under high temperature conditions. It has the following properties:
1. Nanofibers: Pyrolytic PAN forms a fibrous structure at the nanoscale and can be used to prepare nanofiber materials.
2. Carbon fiber: Pyrolysis PAN can produce high-strength, high-modulus carbon fiber, which has the advantages of light weight, high strength, heat resistance, etc., and is widely used in aerospace, automobiles, sports equipment and other fields.
3. Activated carbon: Through further carbonization treatment, activated carbon can be prepared by pyrolysis of PAN, which has a large specific surface area and adsorption performance, and is used in the fields of sewage treatment, gas adsorption and energy storage.
The method of preparing pyrolysis PAN usually includes two steps: first, the PAN is pre-oxidized in an inert atmosphere such as nitrogen, and then pyrolyzed under high temperature conditions, it is usually carried out in the range of 600-1000 degrees Celsius.
The process of pyrolysis PAN need to pay attention to some safety matters. First of all, there will be a violent reaction under high temperature, so be careful to prevent fire and explosion during operation. Secondly, PAN may release toxic gases, such as hydrogen cyanide, and should be operated in a well-ventilated environment to avoid inhalation of harmful gases. In addition, for the pyrolysis products, care should be taken to avoid direct skin contact and inhalation. It is best to operate in a laboratory or under special equipment to ensure safety.
